Plain Concrete

Concrete is a material used in building construction, consisting of a hard, chemically inert particulate substance, known as an aggregate (usually made from different types of sand and gravel), that is bonded together by cement and water. Aggregates include sand, crushed stone, gravel, slag, ashes, burned shale, and burned clay. Fine aggregate (fine refers to the size of aggregate) is used in making concrete slabs and smooth surfaces. Coarse aggregate is used for massive structures or sections of cement. Plain concrete is a term we use in a standard “plain” finished concrete that has no exposed aggregate, colour additives or painted/stencil techniques. It is a very versitile and structurally strong material making it ideal to use in the building industry where today plain concrete is the most widely used man-made material. Hume & Sons Concreting use plain concrete in driveways, building slabs, footings, foundations, pathways, stairs & steps, carports, alfresco areas, around pools and more…
